Meet our 4-H Scholarship Recipient – Kate Rivir
What is your name, what school do you go to, and what grade are you in?
Kate Rivir, Jefferson Elementary, 5th grade.
How many years have you been participating in 4-H?
I have been participating for 2 years in mini-4-H and 2 years in 4-H.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience in 4-H?
I really like math, science, and nature and 4-H combines all those things into a fun learning experience.
How did you hear about our scholarship program?
My mom saw it online and suggested that I apply for it.
How did receiving this scholarship make a difference for your 4-H project?
The scholarship allowed me and my family to go to Turkey Run State Park to find leaves for my forestry project, take pictures for my photography project, and learn about squirrels for my wildlife project. I was excited that my wildlife project got champion at the Kosciusko County Fair and went on to compete at the State Fair.
What did you learn through your 4-H project?
I learned a lot about leaves, photo composition, and interesting facts about squirrels.
