Shining a light on John H. Anglin Scholarship Recipient
Addison Mehlberg
The John H. Anglin Scholarship program awards ten $1000 scholarships annually to KREMC members and/or their dependents who are pursuing higher education. We are pleased to introduce some of these outstanding students to you. Their accomplishments to date are inspiring and their futures are extraordinarily bright.
This week, we spoke with 2024 scholarship recipient Addison Mehlberg.
KREMC: Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Addison Mehlberg, and I am from Leesburg, Indiana. I am going to Ball State in the fall to study Criminal Justice/Criminology. During school, I participated in track and cross country. I was also in HOSA, which is Health Occupations Students of America. I was also in National Honors Society, and I was a former member of Students Against Destructive Decisions. I volunteered in multiple parts of my community and even contributed within my school by peer tutoring.
KREMC: Can you share some details about the field of study you've chosen and why it resonates with you?
I have chosen to major in Criminal Justice to pursue a career in forensics. I am planning on getting a job as a forensic investigator or forensic anthropologist, possibly ending up working for the FBI in my future. I chose this field of study because of the fascination it brings and my passion for science and making the world a better place.
KREMC: How do you plan to give back to your community or make a positive difference in society once you've completed your higher education?
I hope to give back to my community by taking my education and pursuing a job in law enforcement that will impact those who suffer from losses and trauma. I hope to help the criminal justice system improve as a whole
KREMC: What does receiving this scholarship mean to you, and how will it support your educational endeavors?
Receiving this scholarship means the world to me. It is a complete honor to not only receive the monetary aspect, but to receive recognition for my contribution to my community and my academic hard work. It will support my academic career by helping to make it possible for me to pursue and education without being overwhelmed by large amounts of debt. I am extremely grateful to those who made receiving this scholarship possible, so thank you to the scholarship team.
