October Brings Service and Learning Opportunities

A colorful autumn forest path

October has brought a crispness to the air and the leaves are quickly changing their hue. It is one of the most beautiful months of the year in Kosciusko County. This month of transition brings us significant observances and exciting opportunities for our members here at Kosciusko REMC.

First, October is National Cooperative Month. Cooperatives like KREMC are built upon the principles of self-help, community responsibility, and democratic control. We exist to serve you, our members, and this month, we celebrate the cooperative spirit that binds us together.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month; a time to raise awareness and show support for those affected by this disease. You’ll have the opportunity to help non-profit organization Francine’s Friends in our lobby throughout the month of October. Francine’s Friends provides convenient and potentially life-saving mobile mammography services to northeastern Indiana. Stop into KREMC to contribute.

October 13 is Cooperative Community Day. Every year on the second Friday of October, each of Indiana's electric cooperatives is asked to determine a need within its service area. That day our  employees will be volunteering their time to help Ryan’s Case for Smiles, a non-profit organization providing whimsical pillowcases to children with serious illnesses. Our employees will be participating in a “pressing party” and ironing and packaging hundreds of pillowcases. KREMC is excited to help this outstanding organization in a meaningful way.

Finally, we are looking forward to bringing our EV Test Drive Experience to our members for the second year in a row. This free event is October 14 from 10 am to 2 pm at our facility. We’ll have knowledgeable experts on hand to answer general questions about EV’s. For purposes of making the day run smoothly and eliminating wait times, we ask that you pre-register for a test drive time HERE. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about EV’s and get hands-on experience.

I hope you have a great October. Happy National Cooperative Month and thank you for being a valued member of KREMC.
