Youth Programs
One of Kosciusko REMC’s core principles is Concern for Community, and as a part of that, we care about the future generations of our community. We are committed to investing in our local youth, whether that be through Camp Kilowatt, Tours to Washington D.C., or our Scholarship programs.
Camp Kilowatt
This year, Camp Kilowatt will take place July 26th-29th at Happy Hollow Children’s Camp in Nashville, IN. Camp Kilowatt is a fun and unique camp experience for sixth-grade students going into seventh grade across Indiana.
Kids get the chance to learn more about energy while making new friends and enjoying fun activities and games. Application are closed for 2026.
Youth Tour to the Capital
During the month of June, Indiana’s electric cooperatives sponsor a group of students going into their senior year of high school to go on a life-changing educational adventure to Washington, D.C.
This year, the youth tour trip will take place June 14th-21st, 2026. Highlights of this seven-day trip include visits to historical monuments and museums, meetings on Capitol Hill with Indiana’s congressional delegation, the opportunity to make lifelong friends, and much more.
The 2026 Youth Tour trip’s expenses are paid for students selected to participate. Applications are closed for 2026.
Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest
Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ Student Art Contest is open to all K-12 students who want to showcase their artistic talents. A first-place artist will be selected for each grade level, and each winner will receive a $100 prize. Honorable mentions will also be selected and awarded $50 each.
Winning artwork may be featured in Indiana Connection, displayed at the IEC annual meeting in Indianapolis, and exhibited throughout the Indiana Electric Cooperatives Statewide office. The Art Contest is closed for 2026.
Youth Power and Hope Awards
The Youth Power and Hope Awards is presented by Indiana Connection Magazine and the Indiana Electric Cooperatives. The annual program is for students in fifth through eighth
grades who are active leaders in their community and whose parents live in Indiana. Being a leader in the community can mean anything from volunteering at your church to being involved with 4-H to helping support local hospitals or other community organizations.
All you have to do to enter is share how you’re making a positive difference in your community! Winners will receive $500 and be featured in an upcoming issue of Indiana Connection.
Applications are closed for 2025.
Note: The applicant’s parent(s)/guardian(s) must be a member of an Indiana electric cooperative to apply.
John H. Anglin Scholarship
Kosciusko REMC is thrilled to offer the John H. Anglin Scholarship to assist members or their dependents financially in pursuing higher education. Each year, 10 applicants are chosen by a committee to receive a $1,000 scholarship toward tuition for the upcoming school year at a higher-learning institution of their choice.
Applications are closed for 2026.
Enrollment verification is required to claim the scholarship money. Payment will be sent directly to the institution on the student’s behalf.
4-H Scholarship
Each year, Kosciusko REMC awards scholarships to ten students involved in 4-H who live in the KREMC service territory. A committee chooses the scholarship recipients to receive $350 to be used toward expenses for any 4-H project.
Applications are closed for 2026.
Page Day
Page Day with the Indiana Senate gives students an opportunity to learn about their state government and how bills become law. Highlights include a Statehouse tour, mock bill activity, speakers and other educational activities. Students may have the opportunity to see the Indiana Legislature in action and meet their legislator.
The program is open to high school students who have reliable transportation to and from the Indiana Statehouse. In most instances, Page Day is considered an excused absence. However, it is the student’s responsibility to confirm with their school administrators prior to attending.
Applications for 2026 are closed.
Live Line Demos
Kosciusko REMC offers Live Line Demos at the KREMC facility for primarily 4th graders. Their Live Line Trailer can also travel to spacious outdoor locations. These educational demonstrations taught the students the basics of power line safety and also the different career paths available through KREMC. These presentations are designed to equip students and the public with the knowledge to keep themselves and others safe when it comes to electric lines.
KREMC encourages local schools to schedule field trips to KREMC’s facility for Live Line Demos. To schedule a fieldtrip to KREMC, contact Laura Seney at lseney@kremc.com or by phone at (574) 269-0354.
